W. H. [William Horton] Martin, "Having rented the above named premises", opened the Santa Cruz Foundry in 1864. was a 1866 partner in "Martin & Kirby" (presumably Richard Kirby). "Martin & Kirby" is mentioned again later that year as manufacturers of iron pilasters and lintels for the new building of Hugo Huhn, but Kirby is not mentioned after 1866. In 1869, "Ed. Cadle" was a briefly partner. In July, 1871, "W. W. Taylor" and "Thos. Morton" announced their purchase of the foundry.
