William H. Francis (1859-1891), born in Santa Cruz, was killed in a shooting accident in San Diego at age 32. In partnership with Henry Willey, he had a Pacific Avenue hardware store. William's father Joseph Francis (1822-1895) died in Santa Cruz, four years after his son.
