Ira Thurber (1839-1911, Harrison p.185, "Lake Farm", p.360), born in Rhode Island, came to Santa Cruz in 1866, moving to the Pajaro Valley in 1869. Harrison includes an illustrated description (p.185) of Thurber's "Lake Farm" as a prime example of area agriculture. Ira was a cousin of Isaac Thurber.
