Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is located in the former Seabright Library building on East Cliff Drive, in Tyrrell Park. the lighthouse-keeper position passed to his youngest daughter Laura (1854-1919), who tended the big oil lamp faithfully for the next 33 years. Laura Hecox, keeper of the Point Santa Cruz lighthouse from 1883 to 1916, was also an avid amateur naturalist, and her collections formed the basis for the museum's coastal artifact holdings.
