Godfrey M. Bockius (1818-1905), born in the Philadelphia suburb of Germantown, came to San Francisco with his wife and children by sea in 1852, and to the Watsonville area shortly thereafter. Elected judge in 1856, and state Assemblyman 1872-74. Commissioned building of a house in 1870, which survives as home to the Pajaro Valley Historical Association.
