Francis Martin Kittredge (1810-1879), a native of Massachusetts, came to California in 1849, and to Santa Cruz in the 1850s. Already married, his wife Almira Mead Kittredge (1817-1885) either came with him or joined him soon after. Almira's sister married William Blackburn.
