The Catalyst is a live-music venue on Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz. Former owner Randall Kane converted the ~1930 Santa Cruz Bowl building into a nightclub in 1974-76. The Catalyst began in 1965 as a coffeehouse, in the old St. George Hotel building.
