José Antonio Bolcoff (1794–1866) was a native of Russia, and one of the earliest non-Spanish immigrants to Santa Cruz. He became a naturalized Mexican citizen, married a daughter of the Castro family, was grantee of Rancho San Agustin, and later Rancho Refugio (through his wife Candida), served as mayor domo, alcalde, and juez de paz.
