Scotts Valley is one of four incorporated cities in Santa Cruz County. Along with Capitola, it is newer and smaller than Santa Cruz and Watsonville, named for the Hiram Scott family who first settled there in the 1850s. Marion dale Pokriots has written extensively on the history of the area.
