Samuel A. [Alonzo] Hall, his wife Rachel (1824-1905), and daughter Lulu, (later married first to Mr. Green, then to Mr. Wolbach), came to Capitola in 1869, and thereafter managed/owned several different hotels and conference grounds in the following decades. Hall was a carpenter who built the 1868 Soquel Congregational Church (still standing), and Rachel was one of its founding members.
