Uriah Williams Thompson (1830-1903, Harrison p.265), born in Missouri, came to Santa Cruz County in 1849, and in 1856 bought a sizable farm in the area now called Live Oak. Today's Thompson Avenue (between 30th and 38th, inland from the RR tracks) remembers the farm location.
