The Buelna family were early Californio residents of Villa de Branciforte.

  • Antonio Buelna. Listed in Rowland as one of the original Branciforte invalidos (so older than Joaquin), but notes no family relation/connection.
  • Joaquin Buelna was an early Californio resident of Villa de Branciforte, who served as Comisionado (military liaison) and Juez de Paz (Justice of the Peace). He was the original grantee of Rancho Zayante, but never claimed it. On different pages, Rowland described Buelna as Comisionado and as Juez de Paz in 1818.
  • Josefa Buelna. Described in Rowland as the first teacher in the Zayante school district, created in 1882, and for 20 years thereafter.
