Herbert E. Cox (1860-1936, Harrison p351), born in New Zealand, was in the 2nd class to graduate from Santa Cruz High School (then located on the 3rd floor of Mission Hill School) in 1879. Harrison does not say when he first arrived in Santa Cruz. He got a B.A. from Pacific U. and returned to Santa Cruz as a teacher. According to a photo caption found on the Find-a-Grave page, he later became "proprietor" of Pacific Coast Business College in San Jose. The building housing the college was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.
