Swanton

Swanton is a residential area located mostly along Scott Creek, north of Davenport and slightly inland. Scott Creek County Beach is a nearby coastal feature. Earlier known as Laurel Grove, the community was renamed for entrepreneur Fred Swanton, the prime mover in a partnership that built the county's first hydroelectric power plant on Big Creek, a tributary.
