Joaquin Buelna was an early Californio resident of Villa de Branciforte, who served as Comisionado (military liaison) and Juez de Paz (Justice of the Peace). He was the original grantee of Rancho Zayante, but never claimed it.

Rowland also mentions Antonio Buelna, listed as one of the original Branciforte invalidos (so older than Joaquin), but notes no family relation/connection.
